Valentine's Day Mocktails

Whether you’ve been sober for 15 years or just want to continue your Dry January streak, you will fall in love with these Valentine’s Day mocktails with heart-shaped ice!

You’re probably wondering, what’s the point of a mocktail? I’m almost 3 years sober and I only recently became mocktail curious.

After some deep thought, I realized something. Alcoholics don’t drink cocktails, or at least I didn’t when I was an alcoholic. Cocktails are for normal drinkers – people who know how to moderate. In other words, to an alcoholic, cocktails are pointless, because they’re all filler and no killer.

However, mocktails are culinary delights! A carefully crafted drink deserves just as much attention as a well-prepared meal.

Cheers to good health and delicious flavor! I’ll drink to that!

Valentine's Day Mocktails with Heart Shaped Ice

Where to Buy the Heart Shaped Ice Trays

These Valentine’s Day mocktails are all about the aesthetic details, meaning the super cute, heart-shaped ice! Check out these BPA-free, non-toxic ice trays I found on Amazon.

I couldn’t be happier with my ice tray, because it makes diamond-shaped, rose-shaped, and normal rounded hearts on the back of each ice cube!

The ice tray I purchased didn’t come with a funnel, which made filling the trays very difficult!

But that’s OK because I got creative and made one with a plastic coffee bag by wrapping it around my finger, fanning out the top as wide as possible, and taping it. I recommend doing this to save plastic! A funnel is a simple device. Why buy one, when you can make it from waste?

If you have kids helping you, this is the perfect opportunity to teach them simple ways to reuse trash!

How to Make Colorful Heart-Shaped Ice

I know you’re tired of me repeating it, but always buy organic or non-GMO juices with no chemical preservatives whenever possible! Your body and the planet will thank you for it!

Besides, quality juice tastes better too!

I used NO food coloring for these Valentine’s Day mocktails, as I am against it for health reasons. The beautiful color variations were achieved with:

  1. Red – beet juice
  2. Pink – pink lemonade
  3. Blue – butterfly pea flower tea (affiliate link)

As you can imagine, these ice trays are easy to use. Just fill and freeze! Make sure you freeze them for at least 12 hours before checking on them though! If you check on them too soon, you could ruin the shape and you will have to start all over! I know… It’s hard to be patient, but it’s worth it to wait until the ice is ready!

Valentine's Day Mocktail Recipes

I didn’t take measurements of the amounts of drinks I mixed. Therefore, these Valentine’s Day mocktail recipes are only meant to inspire you to try different flavor combinations. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to sweet and sour anyway, so make these to your liking!

Beeting Heart Mocktail

This Beeting Heart Valentine’s Day mocktail isn’t too sweet. It has more of a tangy, sour flavor. You know what that means? It pairs perfectly with my Valentine’s Day white chocolate ube fudge recipe!

  • Strawberry-flavored kombucha – I recommend Synergy brand!
  • Splash of pink lemonade
  • Beet juice ice heart or rose-shaped ice heart

Sweet and Sour Heart Mocktail

  • Guava-flavored kombucha – I recommend Synergy brand!
  • Pink lemonade ice heart or rose-shaped ice heart

Blue Rose Vanilla Mocktail

  • Guava-flavored kombucha
  • For the blue ice rose, use butterfly pea flower tea with vanilla syrup sweetener. (Sweetened to taste.) Click the links to see the brands I used. Click here to see how I brew the tea. It’s easy. Just add 5 dried butterfly pea flowers to a mesh tea ball and dip it into hot water. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes. For a stronger color, use more flowers. (I tend to go light on the flowers, because some flowers make me nauseous, like lavender and hibiscus. However, the butterfly pea flower has never made me nauseous, so I may go for a stronger color next time!)
