What to Drink When You are Sick: Spicy Golden Elixir

Want to know what to drink when you are sick? Try this spicy golden elixir. It’s easy to make and will help you feel better in no time!

I don’t get sick often, probably due to my carefully crafted diet of organic foods, my commitment to getting good rest, and my love for exercise.

The last time I got sick was years ago, about a month before COVID-19 officially broke out. I think I had COVID, but no one was using that term at the time. My immune system was weak, because I was addicted to alcohol, and this spicy golden elixir helped me when I was sicker than I’d ever been before!

I hope it helps you too!

Spicy Golden Elixir Ingredients

For best results, use organic ingredients! “Organic” basically means grown without the use of toxic chemicals, genetic modification, and other harmful practices. The purest ingredients are more likely to help you heal from your sickness!

  • 1/8 tsp Cayenne
  • 1/8 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/8 tsp Ground Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • 1/8 Lemon Wedge (Squeezed for juice)

Note: If you don’t have a 1/8 tsp measuring tool, it is half of the 1/4 tsp tool. All of this can be adjusted to taste, but don’t add too much cayenne or garlic powder!

What To Drink When Sick
Use these ingredients to help soothe your throat and boost your immune system when you are sick.

How to Make

  1. Fill a coffee cup with water, then pour that water into a pot and heat on high.
  2. Add the ingredients to the coffee cup while you wait for the water to boil.
  3. Pour the hot water into the cup and stir well.
  4. Relax and enjoy your spicy golden elixir.
  5. Drink one cup a day until your sickness has passed. You may have up to two cups of this daily if you like, but I wouldn’t recommend more than that. Cayenne can give you heartburn and an upset stomach if you consume too much!

Why This Drink Helps When You're Sick

Hopefully, you like the taste of this spicy golden elixir like I do. However, if it’s not your favorite drink, suck it up buttercup! Its purpose isn’t for flavor.

There is seriously cool science to back the reasons why this is a fantastic drink to consume when you are sick.

Cayenne

According to Medicine Net, cayenne pepper is packed with polyphenol antioxidants which keep your cells healthy and strong. In addition, “Cayenne pepper also contains vitamins A, C, E, and B6, as well as minerals such as manganese, copper, zinc, iron, phosphorus, and magnesium.”

Cayenne also helps relieve congestion and headaches. It can even help prevent cancer!

Garlic Powder

The National Library of Medicine tells us, “Garlic contains high levels of potassium, phosphorus, zinc, and sulfur, moderate levels of selenium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, and iron, and low levels of sodium, vitamins A and C, and B-complex. In addition, garlic is antimicrobial and helps prevent numerous diseases including cancer.”

In other words, garlic has superpowers that will help you heal from being sick!

Ground Turmeric

According to the National Library of Medicine, “Curcumin is the most biologically active component of the turmeric root and appears to be an antimicrobial agent.” In addition, curcumin in turmeric helps boost your immune system which helps you heal from infectious viruses.

Honey: How to Stop a Tickly Cough Instantly

Recently, I wrote about how eating small amounts of honey by itself is the most effective method I’ve ever encountered to stop a tickly cough instantly! It is paramount to your recovery to eat or drink honey when sick. In addition, honey makes this golden spicy elixir taste great!

According to Cara Rosenbloom in an article on Good RX Health, “Studies show that a tsp of honey may be an effective remedy to limit coughs. The thick texture of honey may help lower the urge to cough, by coating and soothing the throat. It also has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.”

In addition, Rosenbloom tells us that honey contains antioxidants that help decrease inflammation of the throat as well as reduce mucus production.

Lemon

According to Liverdoctor.com, “Citrus fruits contain 15 different antiviral compounds.” And, Healthline tells us that lemons are a fantastic source of Vitamin C and help prevent cancer!

Wow!
