Sagittarius Photo

This Sagittarius photo was taken in 2012 on the flat rooftop of my apartment in Oregon! The dress was a $5 Goodwill find that I have used for numerous photos!

I Know Astrology is Interpretive, but I Love Being a Sagittarius!

I’ve always been intrigued by astrology and have read countless horoscopes over the years. Some have been accurate. Some have been way off. But, they are still fun to read, even though I can’t rely on them for future forecasts.

My deck of tarot cards is far more trustworthy.

Nevertheless, it’s fun to search for meaning in the cosmos and believe that mystical mascots correlate with heavenly bodies and help shape our personalities.

Astrology may be interpretive, but I’ve always felt that I identify more strongly with Sagittarius than with other zodiac signs.

Sagittarius Personality Traits

If you were born between November 22nd to December 21st, you are a fellow centaur. Common personality traits of a Sagittarius vary depending on the source, but I’ve always identified with the following:

  • Strong-willed
  • Loves to travel
  • Loves to try new things
  • Adventurous
  • Courageous
  • Creative
  • Feisty
  • Passionate
  • Proactive
  • Shows initiative
  • Loves action
  • Introverted in many ways – but loves to perform

My late childhood and teen years were plagued with extreme trauma. Like many who were raised in dysfunctional families, I subconsciously invited similar trauma into my adult life for many years.

I cannot count the times I’ve told myself, “You can handle anything. You’re a badass. A Sagittarius. A fighter. A warrior. A beast. You are fire. You are passion. You are a force of nature.”

When I was in college, my sociology professor introduced me to the term, “self-fulfilling prophecy.” Simply Sociology defines a self-fulfilling prophecy as, A psychosociological phenomenon whereby one expects something, and eventually experiences the realization of this expectation simply because one anticipates it and one’s consequent conduct aligns to fulfill the original expectation.”

Since learning this term, I have often wondered –

If I had never learned of my zodiac sign, would I be as feisty and resilient as I am? In other words, am I really a Sagittarius, or has astrology functioned as a self-fulfilling prophecy that has positively affected my sense of identity and confidence?

It’s an interesting concept to think about, but I’ve realized that it doesn’t matter if astrology is real or fabricated because it’s fun, and I’ve found meaning in it.
