There I lay, fidgeting in bed, unable to sleep, because of the itching. Don’t scratch it. Don’t scratch it. Don’t – Ahhhh! I can’t take it anymore! I scratched and scratched to no avail until I remembered. Oh yeah! I know of a few natural ways to treat bug bites! Natural Ways to Treat Bug Bites

Note: this article is for treating minor bug bites. If you are suffering from extreme pain, illness, fever, oozing wounds, or any other major afflictions, please seek medical attention!

Mosquito Bite
When I killed this mosquito I basically had to clean up a crime scene! I thought the cops were going to take me in for questioning!

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is pure magic that offers many powers of protection, not in a metaphysical sense, but in a real world practical sense. Or, hey, maybe in a metaphysical sense too! According to Healthline(and my own personal experience), tea tree oil can:

  • reduce itching
  • soothe inflammation
  • fight bacteria
  • speed up the healing process

Note: Tea tree oil is very strong! Be careful not to get any in your eyes. Dilute with a carrier oil like olive oil or coconut oil if necessary. Apply onto the cleaned bug bite with a Q-tip or cotton swab. Or, keep reading to learn how to incorporate tea tree oil into a nourishing healing salve!

Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil offers the same properties as tea tree oil, but with a gentler touch. It isn’t as harsh as tea tree oil. This makes it wonderful for treating bug bites on people with sensitive skin. Apply onto the cleaned bug bite with a Q-tip or cotton swab. Or keep reading for a magical healing salve recipe!

Lemon Oil

Lemon oil offers the same type of relief as tea tree oil and peppermint oil, but is probably the most gentle out of the three oils. Apply onto the cleaned bug bite with a Q-tip or cotton swab. Or – yes, I’m saying it again – check out the link below to the salve recipe that incorporates all three oils into the perfect blend of bug bite healing magic!
