I discovered FiberTime when I was writing Eco-Friendly Halloween. I was looking for cloth Halloween candy totes when I came across FiberTime’s Candi Corn purse made from seat belts. So, maybe it’s not a candy tote, but you could fill it with candy. Don’t let kids have all the fun!

What Makes FiberTime Seat Belt Purses Eco Friendly?

I’ve always been intrigued by seat belt purses, so I decided to message the seller of FiberTime, Dianna Atkins, to ask her what makes FiberTime purses eco-friendly. This was her response.

Most of the seat belts are rejects from the automotive industry due to failed testing or weaving issues but a few are first quality.

Most of my fabric bucket bags and some of my fabric bags also use some repurposed materials…the center (or feature fabric) material on most of them is made by reusing decorator fabric samples that are no longer being made so the samples/books would have been thrown out. I take the books apart and/or cut up the sample fabrics so they can be used in the bags and then I use other materials to complete the bags.
